D-Squared Musings – Week 9
Security
🐞 Boosting Cloud Native Security With eBPF
- The new video is out! This week we’re covering a newer technology called “eBPF”, which is basically a form of programming the Linux kernel… This drastically improves cloud security, observability, and network. See my notes here.
🔑 Passkeys – Toward a passwordless future
- I’ve recently spent time wrapping my head around Passkeys and what a “passwordless” future could look like once adopted by the majority of users. Here are a few resources I’ve found useful – The protocol behind passkey (WebAuthn), passkey examples, and Apple examples.
Education
🎤 Tobi Lütke & Kaz Nejatian on Shopify’s Country-Sized Economy | Network State Podcast with Balaji #2
- A much more improved round two of Balaji’s new podcast. I really enjoy and admire his ability to speak broadly on a variety of topics, always providing an interesting perspective.
💻 Panel Discussion: WebAssembly (WASM)
- I’ve not spent too much time reading into WASM, but I know it’s slowly becoming a hot topic for edge computing and replacing specific tasks containers do today. This panel gives a basic look into what a WASM future could look like. Not worth watching the entire thing, but maybe the first half is enough to get the gist.
Miscellaneous
- I’m a big fan of hiring fully autonomous people. 37 Signals has taken it to a different level, which is an inspiration and aspiration for me when hiring people for the teams I lead.
🐜 Marvel Studios’ Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania
- I’m proudly still on the Marvel train after all the previous flops and have high hopes for the new Ant-Man movie coming out this weekend. 💖
