D-Squared Musings – Week 41

Tech

🧑‍💻 Mark Zuckerberg: First Interview in the Metaverse | Lex Fridman Podcast #398

  • This is amazing! The realism in each of their faces is so detailed. Sure… There’s some strange movement and they’re missing the rest of the body, but this is just the beginning.

🧳 12-Pack Space Saver Bags

  • I’ll be traveling a good amount in October, November, and possibly some of December. I’m not a fan of checking a bag if I don’t have to, so I’m going to try something… Vacuum packing the clothes that wrinkle, then fold in the rest. 🤞 This works!

Education

🦠 All-In Summit: Gene therapy and a new era of medicine with Dr. Nicole Paulk

  • This is by far the most interesting talk at the All-in Summit. Nicole had many surprising (to me) statements about what’s currently possible with gene editing. For example, it’s possible to edit a gene that could allow us to sleep for four hours and fully rested… Today!

📈 The Economic Case for Generative AI with a16z’s Martin Casado

  • This is a great breakdown of the state of generative AI today. Specifically, zooming in on the economics of the growing market, and competing businesses sitting at different parts of the AI stack.

Miscellaneous

⚔️ Onimusha | Official Trailer | Netflix Anime

  • I’ve probably rewatched this trailer at least five times in the last 4 days. When combining the storyline, animation, and background music… It’s beautiful.

😂 Rick & Morty – Season 7 (Official Trailer)

  • If you know me, you know I’m always excited for a new season of Rick and Morty. Likely the best show ever created (not an overstatement). 👏
